Professional Goals
My professional goals include designing curriculum for Title 1 school districts to then transition into working in the field of educational technology. I love being a teacher, especially planning meaningful and engaging lessons. Instructional design has allowed me to expand my knowledge of teaching despite my few years of experience. Concepts such as the application of the ADDIE Model and andragogy have assisted me in the creation of instructional materials and solutions. I am headed to my 3rd year of teaching, and I have already analyzed the new curriculum my school has adopted. I have taken notes on how the curriculum is set up, what is included, what is missing, and what can be improved; this way, I can start building experience in creating curriculum and bring my ideas to life.
Educational technology (Edtech) such as Google Classroom, GoGuardian, Quizlet, and more focus on the improvement of student learning as well as data analytics for students, classes, school administration, etc. I am a numbers person, and seeing data in real-time helps me adjust my lessons if students did not understand a concept at the mastery level. I would love to work for an Edtech company to better serve teachers and ease their day-to-day life. The use of technology has been prevalent in classrooms, and it should act as a supplement to learning, not a replacement. Working in Edtech would make me a strong instructional designer given my education background and connections.
